FLORENCE, Ind. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team will return to action to start the week when the Jaguars participate in the NKU Women's Fall Invitational on Monday (Sept. 28) and Tuesday (Sept. 29). The tournament is slated for 54 holes with two rounds on Monday and a final round on Tuesday. 

The Jaguars have been off to a strong start to the fall, earning a fifth-place finish at the season opening YSU Roseann Schwartz Invitational and following up with a fourth-place finish at Ball State's Brittany Kelly Classic. Sophomore Li (Sherry) Xia is coming off a top-10 effort at Ball State with a 4-over 220 (72-76-72) at that event. Through two tournaments, she and Olivia Aronhalt have a team-best 75.00 scoring average while freshman Janelle Garcia is just off their pace at 77.60. Junior Cassidy Ayres is next in line with a 78.40 scoring average through five rounds. 

Senior Nina Wojtczak will join that group in the lineup this week while sophomore Emma Frauhiger will compete as an individual this week. The Jaguars will square off with three other Horizon League teams in this event as Detroit Mercy, Green Bay and host Northern Kentucky are among the 11-team field. 

THE COURSE
Belterra Golf Club was ranked among the top 20 casino golf courses in the U.S. by Golfweek and blends a smattering of lakes with over 2,200 trees. The course was designed by Tom Fazio recently had all the greenside bunkers renovated with Better Billy Bunkers in 2024. 

THE FIELD
The 11-team field includes Alabama State, Butler, Detroit Mercy, Evansville, Green Bay, IU Indy, Indiana State, Northern Kentucky, Southern University, UIC and Valparaiso.

QUOTABLE
"I just felt like I was solid today, even if it wasn't a good start. I just wanted to save a bunch of putts and make some birdies. I feel good," Xia said following her final round 72 at Ball State's Brittany Kelly Classic on Sept. 15.

The Jaguars finished fourth of 14 teams at the Brittany Kelly Classic at The Players Club on Sept. 14-15, finishing the tournament at 908 (304-305-299). Xia earned a top-10 finish at 4-over 220 (72-76-72) and Aronhalt closed at 8-over 224 (73-77-74).
