YORKTOWN, Ind. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team posted a final round 299 on Tuesday (Sept. 15) at Ball State's Brittany Kelly Classic at The Players Club at Woodland Trail, moving up to a fourth-place finish on the tournament's final day. Sophomore Li (Sherry) Xia led the final day surge with an even par 72, finishing off a tenth-place finish at 4-over 220 (72-76-72) for the week. It marked Xia's third career top-10 finish.

"I just felt like I was solid today, even if it wasn't a good start," Xia said. "I just wanted to save a bunch of putts and make some birdies. I feel good."

On Tuesday, sophomore Olivia Aronhalt chimed in at 2-over 74 and junior Cassidy Ayres finished at 4-over 76. Another sophomore, Emma Frauhiger, rounded out the scoring four at 5-over 77 and rookie Janelle Garcia shot 7-over 79.

Senior Nina Wojtczak showed well as an individual, carding a final round 4-over 76.

Xia made four birdies during her final round, including three in a six-hole span as she went from 2-over to 1-under before finishing at even with a bogey on her final hole. Aronhalt played her final seven holes to 1-under, finishing with a birdie to end the event tied for 15th at 224 (73-77-74). Ayres was cruising early on, making three birdies in a seven-hole stretch to get to 2-under midway through the round.

Similarly, Wojtczak also started hot, including back-to-back birdies on her fourth and fifth holes of the day.

Host Ball State raced to the tournament win at 858, winning by 28 shots over second-place Morehead State. BSU's Taylor Larkins earned medalist honors at 2-under 214 for the week.

The Jaguars will return to action on Sept. 28-29 when they compete in the NKU Women's Fall Invitational at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind.
