PORTAGE, Mich. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team will be back in action this week as the Jaguars compete at Western Michigan's Bronco Fall Classic at Moors Golf Course. The tournament is scheduled for two rounds on Monday (Oct. 12) and a final round on Tuesday (Oct. 13). The Jaguars have opened the fall well, including coming off a runner-up finish at the NKU Women's Fall Invitational at Belterra in Florence, Ind. Sophomore Li (Sherry) Xia tied for second-place overall with a 3-over 216 (71-72-73) and freshman Janelle Garcia collected her first career top-10 finish at 223. 

Garcia opened the tournament with a 1-under 70 while Xia also opened with a round of even par. For the season, Xia leads the team with a 73.88 stroke average and two top-10 finishes while also collecting three rounds of par or better. Sophomore Olivia Aronhalt has a 75.25 stroke average and Garcia is thid on the team at 76.38. 

Nina Wojtczak will play in the No. 4 spot at this event and has a 78.63 scoring average and junior Cassidy Ayres sits at 79.25. As a team, the Jaguars are averaging 302.38 after three tournaments and eight rounds this season. 

Xia earned a top-10 finish at last year's WMU Bronco Classic at 231 and Emma Frauhiger tied for 20th overall at 238. 

THE COURSE
Moors Golf Course was completed in 1979 and has hosted a number or prestigious events, including multiple U.S. Open Qualifiers, multiple U.S. Amateur Qualifiers and multiple U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifiers. The practice and short game area was completed in 2015, along with a new driving range and practice green. 

THE FIELD
This year's field consists of Butler, Dayton, IU Indy and host Western Michigan.

The Jaguars will participate in the UD Invitational at NCR Country Club on Oct. 19-20.
