INDIANAPOLIS – IU Indianapolis sophomore women's tennis student-athlete
Hanan Awale, along with her family's Awale Foundation, has been recognized on an international stage, earning the Humanization Award at the 2026 Global Somali Awards.
The honor celebrates the Awale Foundation's impactful work in advancing social services and delivering humanitarian aid throughout Somalia. Hanan, a co-founder of the organization, has played an active role in supporting the foundation's mission alongside her family.
The Humanization Award recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities through compassion-driven initiatives. The Awale Foundation has been instrumental in providing critical resources and support to underserved populations, contributing to long-term development and stability in the region.
In addition to her work off the court, Awale continues to compete as a key member of the IU Indy women's tennis program, balancing the demands of collegiate athletics with her dedication to service and global impact.
