Box Score 2 CLEVELAND - The IU Indianapolis women's tennis team wrapped up a two-match Horizon League road swing over the weekend, falling to Youngstown State on Saturday (April 11) and Cleveland State on Sunday (April 12).
On Saturday, the Jaguars dropped a 6-1 decision to Youngstown State despite picking up a point in singles play. The Penguins secured the doubles point and carried momentum into singles, claiming five of six matches. IU Indy's lone victory came at No. 6 singles, where
Bella Duncan earned a straight-set win, 6-4, 6-3.
Youngstown State controlled much of the afternoon, winning in straight sets across the top five singles spots after taking two completed doubles matches to claim the early advantage.
The Jaguars continued play on Sunday against Cleveland State, where they were edged 7-0 in Horizon League action. Despite the final scoreline, IU Indy battled in multiple spots, including three-set efforts at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
Calli Sokolowski pushed her match to three sets at No. 2 singles, while
Sara Jankovic and
Bella Duncan also forced decisive third sets in tightly contested battles.
Cleveland State secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 before completing the sweep in singles play.
IU Indy will now return home to Indianapolis to close out the regular season on April 18.
