LEBANON, Ind. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team tied for a second-place finish at its own Lady Jaguar Invitational on Saturday (Apr. 18) as the event was shortened to just 18 holes due to inclement weather. The tournament was originally slated for 36 holes on Saturday, but was cut to a single round as high winds and cold temperatures took over the day.
IU Indy finished tied with Marian for second-place at 323.
Freshman
Olivia Aronhalt led the way at 5-over 77, finishing tied for third among the 28-player field. Sophomore
Cassidy Ayres shot 9-over 81 to finish tied for 13th and sophomore
Lexi Stuart finished at 10-over 82. Senior
Reagan Sohn rounded out the scoring group in the 6-count-4 format at 11-over 83.
Both
Li (Sherry) Xia and
Yanah Rolston finished at 86 with Rolston ending her round with a birdie on No. 18. Freshman
Emma Frauhiger also shot 86 while playing as an individual and sophomore
Alexandra Chiew shot 87 as an individual.
Scoring was at a premium throughout Saturday's round as the Jaguars made just four birdies and the course yielded just 18 overall. Aronhalt finished tied for third overall with 11 pars and had a team-low six bogeys.
Butler earned the team title at 310, clearing the Jaguars and Marian by 13 shots. DePauw's Becky Williams earned medalist honors at 4-under 76, finishing the round tied with Butler's Cybil Stillson atop the leaderboard. Williams proceeded to outlast Stillson in a playoff, winning on the third playoff hole.
IU Indy will return to action this week when the Jaguars head south for the Horizon League Tournament being played at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., on Apr. 25-27.
