Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The IU Indianapolis men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Louisville on Sunday evening (March 8) at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Louisville secured the doubles point by claiming courts one and three. On court one, Matei Onofrei and Andre' Steinbach defeated
Konner Gunwall and
Owen Nguyen, 6-4. The Cardinals added a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles over
Jai Dutta and
Brandon Pham to clinch the point. The No. 2 doubles match featuring
Eli Mercer and
Pumiphat Sukkho against Louisville's tandem of Walid Ahouda and Hamza El Amine went unfinished with the Jaguars trailing 5-4.
In singles play, Louisville won five completed matches in straight sets. At the top spot, Walid Ahouda topped Gunwall, 6-2, 6-1. Steinbach followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Nguyen at No. 2, and Onofrei earned a 6-0, 6-1 decision against Mercer at No. 3. On court five, Louis Chusseau defeated Pham, 6-1, 6-1, and Jerald Carroll posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Sukkho at No. 6.
Cameron Kryscio took the No. 4 singles match after Pedro Cressoni retired after Cressoni was leading 6-3, 0-2.
The Jaguars will next travel to Lipscomb on March 13.
