WOMEN’S BASKETBALL AT HOME FOR BACK-TO-BACK GAMES

The Jags host Oakland on Wednesday (February 11) and Youngstown State on Sunday (February 15)

INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy women's basketball team will be at home in the Jungle for back-to-back games this week when they host Oakland on Wednesday, February 11 and Youngstown State on Sunday, February 15.
 
After finishing the week 2-0 in Horizon League play, the IU Indy women's basketball team will host Oakland in the Jungle on Wednesday, February 11. The Jags and Golden Grizzlies are set for a 6:30 PM tip.
 
The IU Indy women's basketball team earned a key Horizon League road victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wright State 73–63 at the Nutter Center. The Jaguars used late-game execution to secure the 10-point win and improve to 6-8 in league play. Nevaeh Foster led the Jags with 17 points while Hailey Smith added a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
 
IU Indy puts forth a nagging defense, leading the Horizon League in steals and turnovers. The Jags strip the ball 11.3 times per game, forcing 20.7 turnovers per game. Hailey Smith leads the way defensively with 2.0 steals per game. IU Indy also ranks at the top of the league in free throw attempts with 23.17 per game, which puts them at ninth in the nation. With 11.7 offensive rebounds per game, the Jags sit at third in the conference for second chance points opportunities.
 
IU Indy returned five from last year's roster with Nevaeh Foster leading the returning group. Foster has already shown her IU Indy experience, leading the Jags in scoring with 12.6 points per game. She adds 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
 
Foster is the only Jaguar to start every game this season for IU Indy and was named Horizon League Player of the Week following the 2-0 week. She led the Jags to wins over Cleveland State and Wright State, averaging 19.5 points per game. She totaled a career-high six three pointers for 22 points and two rebounds in the Jags' 78-70 win over the Vikings. She then followed it up with a 17 point game with a 6-for-7 mark from the free throw line with two rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win over Wright State.
 
Twins Hailey and Olivia Smith transferred to IU Indy after spending two seasons at Ball State and have made an immediate impact on the court. Olivia is second on the team in scoring with 10.4 points per game and adds 4.0 rebounds per game while her sister Hailey adds 9.9 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 6.1 per game. The dynamic duo from Fishers, Indiana have started in 16 games together this season.
 
Coach Bruce's squad was picked to finish tenth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll, just ahead of Oakland. The Jags will look to fight their way through the Horizon League in hopes of outdoing their preseason rank. They are currently sitting at seventh in the standings with a 6-8 mark in Horizon League play.
