INDIANAPOLIS - Two members of the IU Indianapolis men's track and field program were honored on Thursday (May 29) as the Horizon League announced its 2025 #HLTF All-Academic Teams. Sophomore
Luke Shappell was selected to the league's All-Academic Team while fellow sophomore
Nolan King was an honorable mention selection.
Shappell, a biology major, continued his brilliance during the outdoor season as the league champion in the 1,500m event. He ran a championship record time of 3:47.45 in winning the finals, just shy of his school record time of 3:47.42 from earlier in the season. He also reached the finals of the 800m event at the HL Outdoor Championships to contribute to the team's point total. It marked his third honor of the 2024-25 season as he was an honorable mention selection during indoor season and was voted to the league's All-Academic Team during cross country season.
King, a TCEM major, just missed scoring points in the 3,000m steeplechase at the league championships, placing ninth overall in a personal best time of 9:32.47. He closed the season ranked No. 8 on the program's all-time list in the event and also scored points as a member of the Jaguars' 4x100m relay team at the league championships.
