URBANA, Ill. - IU Indianapolis sophomore men's golf
Titus Boswell posted a round of 8-over 79 to open the NCAA Urbana Regional on Monday (May 12) as the first Jaguar to play in the postseason since 2015. Boswell made 10 pars during his round, including five straight near the midpoint, as part of his day.
"Titus had a rough start today, just handling a few nerves," head coach
Jamie Broce said. "He made it tough to make some of those putts he needed. He hung in there but just couldn't quite punch in some putts to turn the round around.
"He'll play better tomorrow for sure. Being under pressure is a great teacher."
After making par on his first two holes of the round, he was saddled with three straight bogeys to push to 3-over early. He stayed there until finding trouble on No. 11 and making double bogey on the long par-4. He ultimately ended the day with back-to-back pars as part of his 79.
Illinois' Jackson Buchanan leads the field at 8-under 63 and Troy's Jake Springer is second at 4-under 67. Host Illinois leads the team standings at 277, followed by Texas Tech (279), UNLV (281) and Troy (283).
