BATAVIA, Ohio - The IU Indianapolis men's golf team finished off a second-place finish at this week's NKU Jewell Invitational, falling to Wright State by a single stroke. The Jaguars finished tied with host Northern Kentucky for second at 574 (282-292) and one shot clear of fourth-place Bellarmine. Sophomore
Titus Boswell closed tied for third among the 83-player field at 1-under 141 (70-71) and
Morgan Tournemire also earned a top-10 finish at even par 142 (69-73).
The Jaguars held the lead heading into Tuesday's finale, but were unable to hold off a hard charging WSU squad, which shot 3-over 287 on Tuesday.
Boswell paced the Jaguars with an even par 71 and both Tournemire and
Brady Schier shot 2-over 73. Boswell had a steady round with 15 pars and a pair of birdies while Schier continued to score well, making five birdies on Tuesday. Schier made three straight birdies on holes 13, 14 and 15 to get to 1-under before following with a double bogey.
Noah Kirsch rounded out the lineup with a 4-over 75 and
Sam McWilliams posted a 6-over 77. Both Kirsch and Schier finished tied for second overall with eight birdies apiece while Boswell and Tournemire had a team-high 28 pars each. Tournemire tied for the tournament lead on the par 3's, playing them to 2-under for the week.
Harry Ward shot 4-over 75 as an individual while
Greg Miller closed at 7-over 78.
The Jaguars will next compete at the Horizon League Championships at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., on Apr. 19-21.
