ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The IU Indianapolis men's golf team closed out the World Golf Village Collegiate with an 11th-place finish as Tuesday's (Feb. 25) final round was canceled due to inclement weather. The Jaguars, who completed play on Monday evening, finished the tournament at 616 (314-302) while half the competing teams wrapped up on Tuesday morning.
"It was a great trip for our guys," head coach
Jamie Broce said. "We're going to be fine. We're just shaking some rust off at this point."
Temperatures hovered in the sixties for the majority of the trip before rain intervened on Tuesday morning.
Sophomore
Brady Schier finished tied for 24th among the 100-player field at 152 (78-74) and fifth-year senior
Morgan Tournemire tied for 29th at 153 (78-75).
Noah Kirsch tied for 35th at 154 (76-78) and sophomore
Titus Boswell tied for 59th overall at 157 (82-75).
Senior
Sam McWilliams rounded out the lineup at 163 (85-78) and was matched by
Harry Ward's 163 (74-84), who played this week as an individual.
North Florida, which came in ranked No. 97 in the nation, won the event by 25 shots, finishing at 577 (293-284). UNF's Brett Schell cruised to medalist honors at 8-under 136, winning by seven shots over teammate Jason Duff.
The Jaguars finished second among the 16 teams with 117 pars, but struggled to score, making just 13 birdies for the week. Boswell had a tournament best 28 pars while Kirsch tied for second overall with 27. Schier had a team-high five birdies for the week.
The Jaguars will return to action on Mar. 17-18 when they compete in the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley in Greenville, N.C.
