ALLENDALE, Mich. - Four members of the IU Indianapolis men's track team will head to Grand Valley State on Friday (Feb. 14) to compete in the GVSU Big Meet-Friday inside the Kelly Family Sports Center. The small group of runners look to post marks in the 5,000m event ahead of the Horizon League Indoor Championships on Mar. 1-2. 

Veteran Mitchell Gits highlights the group, having run a personal best time of 14:28.40 and ran 15:06.51 at the Midwest Classic this season back on Jan. 31. In addition, three rookies will run their first career 5,000m races in Ty Perez, Sam Grimes and Joey LaPatra. 

Grimes owns a personal best 3,000m time of 8:32.58 while LaPatra has run 8:37.07 at that distance. Perez clocked a personal best 3K time of 9:16.33 last week at the Fairgrounds Invitational.
