INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy women's basketball team welcomes the Green Bay Phoenix to the Jungle on Sunday, Feb. 2. The Jags fell to the Phoenix earlier this season on Dec. 4. They will look for revenge at 2:00 PM on ESPN+

The IU Indy Jaguars dropped a hard-fought game to the Milwaukee Panthers on Wednesday night in The Jungle, falling 66-62 despite a late surge in the final moments. The Jaguars, who struggled offensively in the first half, couldn't recover from the early deficit. Senior Katie Davidson recorded her eighth straight double-digit point game, leading all scorers with 24 points.

While the Jags are averaging 60.8 points per game, Katie Davidson leads the team in scoring with 17.2 points per game since her return to the court. Newcomer Shania Nichols-Vannett however led the team in scoring for the majority of the season with 10.4 points per game. The sophomore totaled a career-high 37 points in the loss against Southern Illinois which puts her at the top in the Horizon League for total points scored by a player in a single game this season.

Davidson is one of the key players for the Jags and was voted Horizon League Preseason All-League Second Team after finishing the 2023-24 season averaging 16.4 points per game. Unfortunately, due to injury, Davidson left the Jags' second game of the season at Ball State in the first quarter, playing just eight minutes in the loss. She made her long awaited return in IU Indy's win over Robert Morris after missing the 12 games. Since her return she has tallied eight straight double-digit games. Davidson tallied her 1,000 career point in the Jags' loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday. The Indianapolis native was named All-League Second Team following the 2023-24 season.

Azyah Newson-Cole earned her first career #HLWBB Freshman of the Week award after her performance in the Jags' victory over Youngstown State on December 28. The redshirt freshman totaled a career-high tying 13 points as well as five rebounds, two assists and one steal. Newson-Cole continues to hold a strong presence on the court averaging 5.9 points per game and 2.0 assists per game making 14 starts for the Jaguars.

Coach Kate Bruce's squad was picked to finish tenth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll, just ahead of Robert Morris. The Jags still look to fight their way through the Horizon League in hopes of outdoing their preseason rank. They currently sit in ninth with a 4-8 conference mark. Meanwhile, Green Bay sits in second with an 11-1 conference record. The Phoenix are currently on an 11-game win streak.

Green Bay is 18-5 overall and 11-1 in Horizon League contests. The Phoenix recorded an undefeated month in January (9-0). Green Bay ranks first in the Horizon League in defense allowing just 57.7 points per game while the Phoenix's offense ranks third with 67.3 points per game.

Green Bay leads the all-time series with IU Indy at 13-5. The Phoenix have also won the last six meetings in the series, including a 78-56 victory in Green Bay back on Dec. 4 of this season.

IU Indy and Green Bay are set for a 2:00 PM first tip.
