JAGUARS TRAVEL TO DETROIT MERCY ON SUNDAY

The women's basketball team will continue Horizon League play when they travel to Detroit Mercy

DETROIT, Mich. - The IU Indianapolis women's basketball will travel to take on the Detroit Mercy Titans on Sunday, Dec 7. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM.  
 
IU Indy is coming off of a ­­­­68-74 loss against the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. The loss against Purdue Fort Wayne put the Jags at 3-5 overall and 0-1 in Horizon League play so far this season. The Jags had four double-digit scorers, Hailey Smith lead with 15 points. Kamara Mills followed with 14 points, Olivia Smith with 12, and Sydney Bolden with 11. IU Indy led by one point at halftime, however Purdue Fort Wayne scored 24 points in the third quarter. Ultimately IU Indy could not overcome the third-quarter gap.
 
Detroit Mercy is coming off of a 76-68 victory against Cleveland State. This victory put them at 2-5 overall and 1-0 in Horizon League play. Sophomore Addisen Mastriano scored 18 points for the Titans, senior Myonna Hopper with 12, graduate student Jasmine Edwards with 10, and junior Makayla Jackson with 10. Detroit Mercy shot a season-best of 58.7%.
 
The Jags and the Titans have gone head-to-head 14 times with the most recent being March 1, 2025, when the Jags won 74-67. After a close first half, IU Indy took control in the third quarter scoring 24 points. Nevaeh Foster scored 16 points for the Jags. IU Indy forced 17 turnovers and held Detroit Mercy to just 12 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Despite a late push, the Titans could not make up the gap, and IU Indy claimed the victory.
