WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Four members of the IU Indy Men's tennis team competed in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, this past weekend. Pumiphat Sukkho, Eli Mercer, Owen Nguyen, and Konner Gunwall represented the Jags in both singles and doubles play.
 
Nguyen won against Dayton's Kaia Mendibe in the opening qualifiers round of 64 (5-7, 7-5, 10-8). He then fell against Eastern Kentucky's Fernando Buknes in the second qualifiers round of 32 (3-6, 1-6). In the consolation round, he fell against East Tennessee State's James Sim (3-6, 1-6).
 
Gunwall fell in the opening qualifiers round of 64 against East Tennessee State's Juan Listo (2-6, 2-6). He won in the opening round of consolations against Tennessee Tech's Richard Garavi Yepez (7-5, 6-2), before falling to Louisville's Louis Chusseau (6-3, 2-6, 8-10).
 
Sukkho fell in the opening qualifiers round of 64 against Eastern Kentucky's Marek Nano (3-6, 2-6). In the consolation round, he defeated Southern Illinois's Jy Hibbert (6-4, 3-6, 10-4).
 
Mercer won in the main draw of 64 against Xavier's Max Pettingell (6-3, 7[7]-6[5]), but then fell in the second round of 32 against Purdue's Henrik Villanger (1-6, 1-6).
 
Doubles pairs representing the Jags, Sukko and Mercer fell in the opening draw of 64 against Purdue's Aleksa Krivokapic and Maj Premzl (4-8). Nguyen and Gunwall fell in the opening draw of 64 against East Tennessee State's Carlos Gonzales & James Sim (5-8).
