GREENVILLE, N.C. - The IUPUI men's golf team put up a steady effort at the ECU Intercollegiate on Monday (Mar. 18) and is tied for sixth among the 15-team field ahead of Tuesday's finale. Senior Kevin Tillery is tied for 15th overall at 4-over 148 (71-77), keyed by his opening round 1-under 71.

Tillery made six birdies in his opening round, finishing with three in his final four holes to get to 1-under.

"I'm really proud of the way we battled today. We got out to a rough start on our first nine holes but everyone rallied and gutted out some solid rounds," Tillery said. "This is a course that requires a lot of patience and we did a good job of staying patient.

"Personally, I played a really solid first round. I made some mistakes early on in the round, but stayed patient and was able to rattle off some birdies later on my back nine. My second round was all about managing my misses as fatigue set in. I feel really good about where we stand going into tomorrow."

Senior Taylor Gardner had a 4-over 76 and freshman Titus Boswell shot 5-over 77, including a chip-in eagle on the par-5, No. 6. Morgan Tournemire shot 6-over 78 and Brady Schier and Noah Kirsch each shot 79, the latter playing as an individual.

In round two, Boswell and Tournemire both shot 2-over 74 and Schier closed at 3-over 75 with four birdies. Gardner was countable at 4-over 76 and Tillery shot 77. Kirsch had the team's low round in the afternoon with a 1-over 73, making 12 pars and three birdies.

IUPUI was second among the field with 26 birdies, but last among the field with 94 pars. Tillery is tied for second among the field with eight birdies and freshmen Boswell and Schier made six apiece. Gardner and Tournemire are tied for the team lead with 23 pars.
