ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - IUPUI senior
Taylor Gardner finished off a fourth-place finish at the World Golf Village Collegiate this week, firing a final round 3-under 69 to finish the event at 10-under 206 (66-71-69). He and his teammates closed in eighth-place among the 18-team field at at 11-over 875 (290-292-293) after a final round 293 on Tuesday (Feb. 20).
Gardner's final day started well as he made eagle on his final hole of round two to close at 1-under 71.
Colten Girgis joined him in the group of scorers at 1-over 73 while
Brady Schier and
Kevin Tillery closed at 74. Freshman
Titus Boswell closed round two at 6-over 78 and
Morgan Tournemire finished at 3-over 75 as an individual.
Gardner continued his torrid pace in round three with a final round, 3-under 69 with five birdies. He got out to 2-under with birdies on his third and fifth holes of the round and got his score to 3-under with back-to-back birdies following a bogey on No. 15. He played his final five holes to 1-under to end the event at 206.
Girgis and Tillery both notched final rounds of 74 and Boswell was countable at 76. Tournemire also closed with a 76 and Schier shot 78 on Tuesday.
Gardner finished fourth among the 108-player field with 14 birdies while Tillery had 11 for the week. Tournemire and Girgis had a team-high 36 pars apiece for the week.
Stetson rallied for the team title at 848, edging second-place Jacksonville State by three shots. JSU's Erik Jansson collected medalist honors at 16-under 200.
IUPUI will return to action on Mar. 18-19 when the Jaguars participate in the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley in Greenville, S.C.
