INDIANAPOLIS – Azyah Newson-Cole earned this week's #HLWBB Freshman of the Week after leading the IU Indy women's basketball team to a 65-50 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon.
 
The redshirt freshman from Matteson, Illinois totaled a career-high tying 13 points to lead the Jags to victory. The guard shot 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free throw line while also collecting five rebounds, two assists and one steal in the win.
 
This marks Newson-Cole's first career award. The IU Indy women's basketball team continues Horizon League play as they ring in the new year at Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, January 1 at 7:00 PM.
