Box Score WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The IU Indy men's tennis team competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Championships this past weekend.
Steven Paz and
Kamil Kozerski represented the Jags in singles play while Kozerski teamed up with
Noah Viste for the doubles competition. The weekend was highlighted by Viste and Kozerski's run in the doubles portion.
In singles play, Paz fell in the opening round of 64 in the qualifying draw to Xavier's Christian Gonzalez in a hard fought three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-4). Kozerski also fell in the opening round of 64 but in the main draw of singles play. Kozerski fell to Belmont's Niklas Von Hellens (6-3, 6-2).
In doubles play, Kozerski and Viste started off hot, winning back-to-back matches. The duo defeated Chattanooga's Ethan Carr and Kristoff Kincses in the round of 64 (8-5) then took down Xavier's Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger in the round of 32 (9-7). Their run came to an end in the round of 16 when they fell to Tennessee's Alejandro Moreno and Alex Kotzen (8-1).
The IU Indy men's tennis team continues their fall season when they travel to Charleston, Illinois for the Eastern Illinois Invitational this weekend, October 18-20.
