WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HOSTS GREEN BAY FOR JAM THE JUNGLE NIGHT

Jags host the Phoenix for a 7:00 PM tip on Wednesday, January 24

1/24/2024 10:47:00 AM

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's basketball team welcomes the Green Bay Phoenix to the Jungle for a 7:00 PM tip off on Wednesday, January 24. The Jaguars will be wearing their black jerseys as we blackout the jungle for Jam the Jungle.

Fans are asked to wear black as we blackout the Jungle for our annual Jam the Jungle game. Don't have a black shirt? We've got you covered! The first 150 fans in the doors will receive a free black Jaguars t-shirt.

Three different Jaguars tallied double-digit points in their loss to Cleveland State on Saturday evening, 90-58. Katie Davidson, Abby Wolterman and Jazmyn Turner all scored in the double digits.

Katie Davidson made her IUPUI debut in a loud way and continues to lead the Jags. The junior transfer from Miami (Ohio) sat out last season for personal reasons but made her presence known with career-high 32 points and seven rebounds in the season opener against Eastern Illinois. She recorded her second 30-point game against Detroit Mercy on January 4th to earn #HLWBB Player of the Week. Davidson has been a consistent starter for the Jags and leads the Horizon League in scoring with 18.7 points per game.

Walton, a graduate transfer from Kentucky Wesleyan, has battled injury on and off this season but continues to make an impact when she's on the court. Walton ranks second on the team in points per game with 12.1 and brings down an average of 3.2 rebounds per game.

Graduate student Jazmyn Turner recorded a double-double in the opening game of the season with 19 points and 17 rebounds. She totaled seven points and two rebounds before suffering an injury in the first quarter at Ohio State and missed seven straight games. When the #HLWBB Preseason All-League First Team pick returned to the court for the Jags, she was restricted to set minutes in her first few games. During the Jags win over Northern Kentucky, she recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She leads the Jags in rebounds per game with 7.3.

Coach Bruce's squad is looking to hunt their way through the Horizon League standings this season as they were picked to finish ninth of 11 teams in the conference, according to the league's coaches. IUPUI finished third in the regular season standings during the 2022-23 season with a 13-7 record and entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Jags currently sit in ninth in the #HLWBB standings with a 2-6 league record.

Green Bay enters the game tied with Cleveland State on top of the Horizon League standings. The Phoenix are 8-1 in conference after falling to Oakland this past weekend.

Wednesday's game will tip off at 7:00 PM on ESPN+.
