MUNCIE, Ind. - The IUPUI men's golf team carded a final round 300 at Delaware Country Club on Sunday (Sept. 10), finishing this weekend's Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational at 900 (303-297-300), tied for fifth among the 10-team field. Senior Taylor Gardner paced the team with a final round, even par 70 on the tournament's final day.

"The golf course was extremely firm, so it was all about angles," Gardner said. "It's also a test of patience because the pins were in super weird spots. I think our team learned a lot this week on how sometimes bogeys aren't that bad.

"I don't think anyone is satisfied about how they played this week, so hopefully we can use this week as motivation going into Drake's event."

Gardner had a quality showing, mixing three birdies with three bogeys for the day. His final round 70 ended his tournament at 221 (75-76-70), tied for 15th overall. He and classmate Kevin Tillery finished the event with a team-high six birdies over 54 holes.

Behind him, Tillery shot a final round 77 to close at 225 (77-71-77) and Colten Girgis also shot a final round 77 to finish at 232 (80-75-77). Senior Josh Yoder also finished at 232 (81-75-76) with a round of 76 on Sunday and Morgan Tournemire closed at 234 (71-81-82).

Sophomore Harry Ward ended at 227 (75-75-77) while playing as an individual entry.

Ball State fired an impressive, final round, 3-under 277 to ultimately win the team title by 16 strokes as the next best final round team scores were a trio of 13-over 293s. BSU's Carter Smith earned medalist honors at 208 (71-69-68), fending off teammate Kash Bellar by three shots.

IUPUI will return to action on Sept. 25-26 when the Jaguars compete in the Zach Johnson Invitational, hosted by Drake University.
