MEN’S TENNIS DROPS TWO MATCHES THIS WEEKEND

IUPUI fell to Xavier and Toledo at home

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI men's tennis team hosted Xavier and Toledo this weekend and fell in both. The Jags lost to Xavier 6-1 with Tom Ciszewski recorded the point for IUPUI. They went on to face Toledo where they fought to the last point, losing 4-3.
 
IUPUI kicked off the weekend with a loss to Xavier, 6-1. The Jags dropped the doubles point with Alex Jochim and Colton Morehart falling in the number one spot, 6-2 and Kamil Kozerski and Ciszewski falling in the number two spot 6-2. Blessing Benibo and Nick Moody were ahead in the number three doubles match, 5-4 before it went unfinished.
 
In singles play, Ciszewski earned the sole point for the Jags in the number two spot, 6-4, 6-0. Jochim fell at number one singles, 7-5, 6-3 while Kozerski fell at number three singles, 6-3, 6-3. Morehart lost at number four singles, 7-5, 6-4 while Noah Viste took his number five singles to three sets but lost, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 and Nate Day lost at number six singles, 6-2, 6-2.
 
The Jags then faced Toledo on Saturday where they lost, 4-3. Ciszewski once again recorded a singles win while freshman Eli Mercer also recorded a point for the Jags.

IUPUI led off the match winning the doubles point with Benibo and Morehart winning the number two doubles match, 6-4 and Moody and Will Thurin won at number three doubles, 7-6 (4).
 
After getting ahead early, the Jags couldn't hold on as they dropped four out of six singles matches. Ciszewski earned the point in the number two spot, 6-2, 6-3 while Mercer won at number six singles, 6-4, 6-3. Jochim fell in the number one spot, 7-6, 7-5 while Morehart fell at number three singles, 6-1, 7-5. Benibo lost at number four singles in three sets, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 6-2. Viste lost at the number five spot, 6-2, 6-0.
 
IUPUI will next play North Dakota on February 11 at 1:00 PM.
