INDIANAPOLIS – The women's basketball team will welcome the Eastern Michigan Eagles to the Jungle on Friday, December 15
th for a 7:00 PM tipoff.
The IUPUI women's basketball team went wire-to-wire, defeating Evansville, 81-75, for their third straight victory over the Purple Aces on Wednesday, December 6.
Katie Davidson led all scorers with 26 points, going 8-for-15 from the floor.
Faith Stinson recorded her first double-double in a Jaguar uniform, pulling down 12 boards and shooting 8-of-14 for 17 points while also adding five assists—all season highs.
Davidson made her IUPUI debut in a loud way and continues to lead the Jags. The junior transfer from Miami (Ohio) sat out last season for personal reasons but made her presence known with career-high 32 points and seven rebounds in the season opener against Eastern Illinois. Davidson has been a consistent starter for the Jags and leads the team in scoring with 17.7 points per game, ranking her at third in the Horizon League.
Since
Jazmyn Turner's injury,
Abby Wolterman entered the starting five and has stepped up for the Jags. The sophomore recorded a career-high 16 points in the Jaguar's loss at Ohio and leads the team in rebounds per game with an average of 4.9.
IUPUI has continued to fight injury to start the 2023-24 season with at least six different players sitting out at least two games for injury or other reasons. The Jags have been without #HLWBB Preseason All-League First Team Selection Turner for the past seven games as she suffered an injury in the first quarter of the Ohio State game. Turner recorded a double-double in the opening game of the season with 19 points and 17 rebounds.

Jaci Jones, and freshman
Azyah Newson-Cole,
Kaylin Moorehead and
Brooklyn Stubblefield have also found themselves on the bench for at least two games.
Coach Bruce's squad is looking to hunt their way through the Horizon League standings this season as they were picked to finish ninth of 11 teams in the conference, according to the league's coaches. IUPUI finished third in the regular season standings during the 2022-23 season with a 13-7 record and entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed. They
were shocked in the quarterfinal round by the No. 6 seed Purdue Fort Wayne. The Jags have fallen to 0-2 in #HLWBB play to start the 2023-24 season.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles enter Friday's game with a 1-7 overall record. The Eagles made a coaching change this week as the team parted ways with Head Coach Fred Castro, Assistant Coach Ke'Sha Blanton will take over on an interim basis for the remainder of the season. Junior Lachelle Austin leads the Eagles as she recorded a career-high 27 points in Eastern Michigan's loss at Lindenwood.
Eastern Michigan leads the all-time series at 2-1, taking the last matchup, 71-49, on November 23, 2022.
