SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The IUPUI women's golf team carded rounds of 303 and 314 on day one of the Terrier Intercollegiate at Carolina Country Club on Monday (Oct. 23) and sit eighth of 14 teams competing heading into Tuesday's final round. IUPUI was second overall after the opening round 303, but tumbled with a rocky second round.
Samford leads the field at 594 and Elon is second at 594. Western Carolina also finished the day under 600 at 598 and is third overall. Winthrop's Constanca Mendonca has a sizable lead at 8-under 136 (66-70) while Western Carolina's Brielle Mapanao is second at 2-under 142.
Nerea Lancho, who led the field with 26 pars on Monday, is tied for 19th at 152 (74-78) and sophomore
Yanah Rolston is tied for 24th at 153 (76-77).
Shelby Busker is tied for 28th at 154 (74-80) and
Annaliese Fox settled in at 158 (79-79).
Freshman
Nina Wojtczak rounded out the group at 178 (91-87) on Monday.
Both Lancho and Busker shot 2-over 74 in the morning round while Rolston came in at 4-over 76 with three birdies. Fox rounded out the scoring four with a 79 as IUPUI's 303 was the second-best score of the opening round.
The Jaguars started round two well as Rolston made birdie on her first hole and Fox and Lancho both hovered around even par for the start of the afternoon. However, the Jaguars couldn't maintain the solid play and limped to a 314 in round two.
Rolston was the Jaguars' low score at 5-over 77 and Lancho shot 78 with a pair of birdies. Fox closed at 79 and Busker shot 80.
Rolston led the Jaguars with six birdies on Monday.
Play will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday as the Jaguars will be paired with Lamar and Tennessee Tech for the tournament's final round.
