KETTERING, Ohio - The IUPUI women's golf team carded rounds of 297 and 300 in chilly conditions at NCR Country Club on Monday (Oct. 16) and is tied for fourth among the 11-team field at this week's Dayton Flyer Invitational going into Tuesday's final 18. Senior
Annaliese Fox is tied for 11th among the 72 players after back-to-back rounds of 73 and classmate
Madeleine Pape is tied for 20th at 149 (73-76).
IUPUI was in second place after the opening round 297, but stumbled two spots with the second round 300.
"Today was a cold one out there - the coolest golf I have played in awhile," Fox said. "Today was a good day. Everything was right out in front of me. Everything went good, as best as it could've gone with the weather. I told myself, one more shot - just one more will be closer to being over and a final score."
In round one, Fox and Pape buoyed the lineup with matching 73s while
Nerea Lancho returned to the Jaguar lineup with a round of 75. Both
Shelby Busker and
Yanah Rolston rounded out the group at 76 apiece.
In round two, Fox checked in at 73 while Busker carded a 75. Both Pape and Rolston shot 76 and Lancho finished at 78.
Scoring was at a premium throughout the day as Fox and Pape led the team with four birdies apiece. Pape made all four of hers in her opening round 73 while Fox had two in each round, including back-to-back efforts in round two.
Ohio State's Kailie Vongsaga leads the field at 1-over 141 while three others are at 2-over 142. UIndy leads the team scoring at 576 and has a commanding 17-shot lead over second-place Dayton.
The final round is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
