YORKTOWN, Ind. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team completed play at Ball State's Brittany Kelly Classic on Tuesday (Sept. 16), carding a final round 309 to finish the eight-team event in fifth-place at 925 (313-303-309). Freshman
Olivia Aronhalt led the way with a final round, 2-over 74 and senior
Yanah Rolston shot 3-over 75.
Freshmen Emma Frauhigher and
Li (Sherry) Xia were also countable at 79 and 81, respectively, while sophomore
Lexi Stuart carded a final round 87. Sophomore
Alexandra Chiew rounded out the team entries with a 90, playing as an individual.
Aronhalt got off to a blistering start on Tuesday, making birdie on four of her first five holes of the day, immediately charging to 4-under. She remained at 4-under after making bogey on her seventh hole of the round, but rebounding with a birdie on the following hole. Rolston got off a hot start as well, playing her opening seven holes to 1-under while Frauhiger was even through seven. Stuart finished well, playing her final four holes of the tournament to 1-under.
Collectively, the Jaguars finished second among the field in pars as Xia finished tied for fourth overall with 37 pars. Aronhalt made a team-high six birdies for the tournament and Stuart finished with four.
Xia finished tied for 14th among the 50-player field at 229 (74-74-81) and Rolston charged up the leaderboard to close tied for 19th at 232 (81-76-75).
Ball State earned the team title at 888, defeating second-place Dayton by 13 shots. BSU's Sarah Gallagher won in a four-hole playoff over Ohio's Zoe Luebbers as both finished the 54-hole event tied at 2-over 218.
The Jaguars will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 28 when they play the single day, 36-hole Women's Fighting Irish Classic at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame.
