JAGS RETURN HOME FOR BACK-TO-BACK #HLWBB GAMES

The Jags host Detroit Mercy on Friday and Oakland on Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's basketball team returns home to host back-to-back Horizon League matchups. The Jags face Detroit Mercy on Friday, January 20th for a 7:00 PM tip off then host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies for a 2:00 PM tip on Sunday, January 22nd.
 
Destiny Perkins and Rachel Kent each posted double figures to lead the Jaguars to a big road win over Youngstown State on Monday, 64-61. Perkins finished with 18 points while Kent ended with 10.
 
Senior Jazmyn Turner was named #HLWBB Player of the Week in the first week of 2023 after averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the two IUPUI wins. She shot 76.2 percent (16-for-21) from the floor in the two games combined. The forward ranks fourth in the Horizon League in scoring and has consistently led the Jaguar offense, averaging 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game this season.
 
IUPUI has found success beyond the arc setting a Horizon League and IUPUI record with 17 three-point field goals in its 85-72 win over Northern Illinois. The Jags also hold the league's best 34.8 percent from long range, averaging 8.2 threes per game. Destiny Perkins and Rachel Kent pace the way with 34 and 32 made threes. Kent holds a 39.5 percent (32-for-81) from behind the arc while Perkins follows with a 36.6 percent (34-for-93).
 
Three Jags rank in the top 15 in scoring in the Horizon League with Turner coming in at fourth (14.8), Perkins at fifth (13.9) and Kent holding the 11th spot (11.4). IUPUI enters the weekend 9-8 overall and 5-3 in #HLWBB play.
 
Detroit Mercy enters the weekend 3-15 overall and 1-8 in conference with their one #HLWBB win coming against Robert Morris. Oakland enters the weekend 10-8 and 5-4 in conference with their most recent win against Detroit Mercy, 81-66.
 
Friday night will be IUPUI's annual Jam the Jungle night. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+
