Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The IUPUI men's tennis team opened the 2023 season with two matches in South Bend on Friday. The Jaguars fell to Notre Dame in the first match of the day, 6-1, then went head-to-head with DePaul where IUPUI fell 6-1. Sophomore Kamil Kozerski and grad transfer Tom Ciszewski recorded the two points for the Jaguars.
 
IUPUI started the day off with a match against the Notre Dame where the Fighting Irish bested the Jags, 6-1. Notre Dame secured the double point with wins over Alex Jochim and Emil Jankowski at number one doubles, 6-3 and Blessing Benibo and Colton Morehart at number three doubles, 6-2. Kozerski and Ciszewski's number two double match went unfinished.
 
At singles, the Jags recorded one point with Kozerski's number three singles win, 6-2, 6-1. Ciszewski and Nate Day fought in both of their matches going to three sets. Ciszewski fell at number two singles, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 while Day fell at number six singles, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0. Jochim fell at number one singles, Morehart fell in the number four spot and Jankowski lost in the number five spot.
 
The Jags then went on to face DePaul where the Jags fell, 6-1 with the sole point coming from Ciszewski's number three singles win, 6-4, 3-6, 10-4. Benibo and Morehart won in the number three doubles spot, 6-3 but it wasn't enough as DePaul won the number one and number two doubles matches to seal the first point of the match.
 
Jochim fell at number one singles (6-1, 6-0), Kozerski took his match to three sets but fell in the number two spot (6-7, 6-4, 10-5), Jankowski fell in the number four spot (6-3, 6-1), Day fell at number five singles (6-3, 6-2) and freshman Eli Mercer fell in the number six spot (6-3, 6-2).
 
IUPUI returns to Indy for the home opener on Monday, January 16 when they host cross town foe, Butler. First serve of doubles play will be at 12:00 PM at West Indy.
