Alex Jochim defeated Lipscomb's Maksim Bogdanovich in the opening round of the ITA Regionals to advance to the round of 64.
Kamil Kozerski,
Emil Jankowski and
Tom Ciszewski fell in their matches and will now compete in the consolation bracket.
Jochim defeated Bogdanovich 6-3, 6-4 and will now face Sergio Hernandez from Louisville in the round of 64. Jochim also partnered with Jankowski in doubles play and was slightly ousted by Chattanooga's Kerim Hyatt and Kristof Kincses, 8-7 (7-2).
Ciszewski and Kozerski also entered in the doubles competition and fell to East Tennessee State's Francisco Lamas and Juan Lombisano, 8-5. Ciszewski fell in singles in a close match against Vanderbilt's Jeremie Casabon, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. Kozerski lost to David Mizrahi from Louisville, 6-2, 6-1, while Jankowski fell in three sets to Louisville's Fabien Salle, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
In the consolation round, Jankowski will face Francisco Lamas from East Tennessee State, Kozerski will take on Ball State's Eli Herran while Ciszewski will face Daniel Perez-Caraballo from Tennessee State.
While Jochim, Ciszewski, Kozerski and Jankowski finish out the ITA Regionals this weekend, the rest of the IUPUI men's tennis team travels to Toledo for the Toledo Invitational starting tomorrow, Friday, October 14.
