WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS PFW AND CLEVELAND STATE

The Jags enter the game on a seven-game win streak

INDIANAPOLIS - Having swept both games against the UIC Flames last week, the IUPUI Jaguars (12-5, 9-3 HL) now own a seven-game win streak. The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons (5-13, 4-7 HL) drop by on Thursday night, and on Saturday, the dangerous Cleveland State Vikings (12-3, 7-2 HL) invade the Jungle for a duel between top offenses.

For most of the season, IUPUI has been led in scoring by Macee Williams (17.3 PPG), Rachel McLimore (12.4 PPG) and Rachel Kent (10.9 PPG). Natalie Andersen has emerged to join them, contributing 14.3 PPG over her last three games. That number blows away Andersen's season scoring average of 6.8 PPG, and if she keeps it up, the Jaguars' three-headed offensive monster could become four.

"I'm not only pleased with Natalie Andersen's performance today but her aggressive mentality that has set the tone in the last two games," said head coach Austin Parkinson after last Sunday's win against UIC. Andersen led all players with 18 points that day, one shy of her career-best scoring performance.

Meanwhile, Purdue Fort Wayne looks to snap a three-game losing skid. They dropped their last two against Cleveland State 85-59 and 80-58, knowing firsthand what the Vikings are capable of. Like the Jaguars, the Mastodons wield a three-pronged attack, with Sylare Starks (11.6 PPG), Shayla Sellers (10.4 PPG) and Riley Ott (10.0 PPG) carrying the mail. All three are junior guards, while Starks (from Fort Wayne) and Ott (from La Porte) are Hoosiers by birth.

Purdue Fort Wayne sits fourth-last in Horizon League standings, ahead of UIC (1-9 HL), Wright State (1-10 HL) and Detroit Mercy (0-11 HL). They visit the Jungle Thursday at 7 PM ET.

On the other hand, Cleveland State is one of the Horizon League's best teams. They have won three straight and could be even higher in the rankings were it not for three canceled games earlier in January. Cleveland State is third, with only Youngstown State (17-2, 11-1 HL) and Northern Kentucky (13-3, 7-2 HL) better.

Sophomore guard Destiny Leo is Cleveland State's top player, shooting a conference-best 20.6 PPG and 41.8 percent from beyond the arc. Redshirt senior forward Nadia Dumas follows with 11.6 PPG and a team-high 6.7 RPG, while junior guard Gabriella Smith is a nice third option contributing 10.2 PPG. As a team, Cleveland State scores 73.6 PPG—that's tops in the Horizon League. (IUPUI is second at 69.9 PPG).

The Jaguars and Vikings battle on Saturday at 2 PM ET. Both games this week are on ESPN+.
