INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department and head golf coach
Jamie Broce announced the fall tournament schedules as both the men's and women's teams will play five events each.
Broce's women's team will open the fall at the Redbird Invitational at Weibring Golf Course on Sept. 5-6, followed by the Ball State Invitational on Sept. 20-21. The Jags will then compete in the Briar Ridge Invitational on Sept. 26-27, followed by the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Country Club on Oct. 4-5. The women's team's fall schedule will conclude at the Charles Braun Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Evansville on Oct. 18-19.
The men's team will open the season at the IU Fall Invitational on Sept. 5-6, followed by the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, hosted by Ball State on Sept. 17-18. The men will then travel to the Zach Johnson Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sept. 27-28, followed by the Tom Tontimonia Invitational on Oct. 4-5. The fall slate will conclude at the Musketeer Classic on Oct. 18-19.
Broce's women's team earned a runner-up finish at the Horizon League Championships last spring and returns its entire championship lineup. Fifth-year senior
Amelie Svejda ranks among the best in program history with a 76.41 career scoring average while sophomore
Shelby Busker is the reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year after recording a 76.31 stroke average last season. Other returners include senior
Kara Blair (76.69 stroke average) and sophomores
Annaliese Fox (77.60) and
Madeleine Pape (78.85). Broce inked international standout
Nerea Lancho for the upcoming season. Lancho ranked among the top 40 U18 players in Spain prior to her signing with the Jaguars .
The men's team gained a much needed year of experience after rolling out a primarily freshman lineup a season ago. Sophomores
Taylor Gardner (74.79) and
Brock Aten (76.43) are the team's top returners, alongside veteran
Matthew Baxter (76.57) and
Preston Nanthavong (79.60). In addition, sophomores
Kevin Tillery and
Josh Yoder also return to challenge for spots in the IUPUI lineup. The group of newcomers will include redshirt freshman
Morgan Tournemire and true freshman Sam McWilliams, who will join the program from nearby Mt. Vernon High School.
