MUNCIE, Ind. - Both
Blessing Benibo and
Noah Viste advanced their way through the consolation finals in their respective brackets as members of the IUPUI men's tennis team continued play at the Ball State Fall Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 16).
Viste, who dropped his opener to Marquette's Pablo Dale on Friday, followed up with a win over teammate
Canaan Sellers by a 7-5, 6-3 score before dumping Butler's Zach Trimpe in the final, 2-6, 6-2, 10-7. In the winners side of the same bracket,
Nathan Day earned his second straight win by defeating Ball State's Abe Wojtalik, 6-3, 6-4, before ultimately falling to Dale in the finals.
Benibo also picked off a teammate, Nick Moody, by a 6-3, 6-2 score to move to the consolation final. There, he defeated teammate
Will Thurin 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 to collect the win.
In doubles play,
Sean Bailey and Moody moved past Day and
Kamil Kozerski by a 6-4 score to advance to Sunday's final. In the back draw, Thurin and Sellers knocked off a tandem from Marquette to move to Sunday's consolation finals.
