DAYTON, Ohio - Four members of the IUPUI men's tennis team earned singles victories on day one of the UD Hidden Dual at Dayton's Graul Tennis Complex on Friday (Oct. 1). The Jaguars split six singles matches with opponents from Xavier to start the day and tacked on an additional win against Dayton in the afternoon.
In between, the IUPUI tandem of
Colton Morehart and
Noah Viste earned a doubles win over their opponents from Northern Kentucky.
Against Xavier,
Sean Bailey collected a three-set win over Xavier's Brett Winters, coming from behind to win 2-6, 7-5, 10-7.
Nathan Day also earned a three-set, come-from-behind win over Shashank Reddy, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. The same happened for
Will Thurin as he rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 10-5 win.
Colton Morehart also forced three sets before losing to Xavier's Pascal Mosberger, 6-2, 5-7, 10-4.
In doubles, Morehart and Viste dispatched of NKU's Tom Berry and Trevor Ball, 6-3.
Against host Dayton, freshman
Canaan Sellers was the lone victor, defeating Oliver Dunne, 4-6, 7-5, 14-12. Bailey played three sets before falling, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.
Play will resume on Saturday (Oct. 2) at 9:00 a.m.. IUPUI is slated to play doubles against both Dayton and Xavier and will face fellow Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky in singles action.
