INDIANAPOLIS – Women's basketball junior
Agatha Beier was named an IUPUI Women's Leadership Award winner on Friday (March 20). Beier was one of four undergraduate winners of the award that celebrates Women's History Month.
The award is presented to honor women student leaders at IUPUI. It honors students that have excelled academically and have served as a role model to peers. These women are committed to advocacy, diversity and inclusion on campus and throughout the community and are willing to take risks and push boundaries when necessary. Nominees must meet criteria in the categories of Academic Excellence, Leadership, Service and Community Engagement, Key Characteristics of a Leader, Advocate and Committed to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
Beier finished her third year for the Jags averaging 2.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game off the bench for the Horizon League Champions. In the classroom, Beier is a student in the Fairbanks School of Public Health, where she holds a 3.941 GPA while majoring in Health Systems Management.
The event began in 1998 as a luncheon sponsored by the Commission on Women and the office of Campus Interrelations to celebrate Women's History Month to honor top women student leaders on campus. Every year in March, women faculty, staff and student leaders are recognized and celebrated at an annual leadership reception sponsored by the Office for Women and the Division of Student Affairs.
