DETROIT – IUPUI women's basketball begins a stretch of four-straight games on the road with a contest at Detroit Mercy on Thursday (Feb. 6). Tip time against the Titans is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Jaguars (16-6, 10-1 Horizon) are riding a 10-game win streak in to the meeting with Detroit Mercy and will also be looking to win their sixth-straight game against the Titans. With the win over Youngstown State in their last meeting, combined with losses by Green Bay and Wright State, IUPUI now holds a three-game lead over second place in the Horizon League standings.
IUPUI continues to be led by
Macee Williams, who earned her fourth Horizon League Player of the Week this season after averaging 20.5 points and 11 rebounds in her last two games. Williams has now been named Player of the Week seven times in her career, the second-most of any Jaguar in school history.
FIRST MEETING AGAINST DETROIT MERCY (82-45 WIN)
- IUPUI had five players in double figures as the Jags crushed Detroit Mercy 82-45. Macee Williams, Katelyn O'Reilly and Sydney Roule all led the team with 12 points.
- Six Jaguars led the team with four rebounds apiece.
- IUPUI shot over 50% for the second-straight game, hitting 32-of-60 shots.
NUMBERS DURING THE STREAK
- During IUPUI's ten-game winning streak the Jags offense has been shooting 48.8% from the field and scoring 75.7 points per game.
- The Jaguars won the first nine games of the streak by at least 10 points with four of the eight wins by at least 30 points.
- In the 400 minutes of gameplay during the winning streak, IUPUI has led for 376 minutes and 58 seconds and only trailed for 12:44.
- IUPUI has scored at least 80 points in four of the eight games and 75+ points in eight of the ten games.
- The Jags have hit at least 11 threes in four games and are shooting 40.3% from deep. Two Jaguars are hitting at least 50% from long range, led by Katelyn O'Reilly who is shooting 66.7%.
- Macee Williams has scored in double-figures in every game, including two 30+-point outbursts. Williams is averaging 18.6 points per game during the run and is shooting 64% from the field, the highest of any Jaguar.
- IUPUI is outrebounding opponents 37.8-28.9 with Williams leading the way at 8.1 per game.
- The Jaguars are moving the ball much better than their opponents, dishing out 190 assists to just 90. IUPUI had just 10 assists against Green Bay but had no fewer than 18 in any other game. Holly Hoopingarner has 52 assists during the streak to lead the team after a career-high nine assists against Youngstown State.
- IUPUI's defense is allowing just 52.0 points per game with seven of the teams scoring 53 points or fewer. Opponents are shooting just 37.3% from the field and 24.3% from three-point range in the last ten games.
- The Jags are doing most of their damage with the starters on the court as IUPUI is outscoring teams 219-134 in the first quarter and 181-102 in the third quarter.
ABOUT DETROIT MERCY
- Detroit Mercy comes in to the game with a 2-19 overall record and 2-8 mark in Horizon League play. The Titans are currently on a four-game losing streak after beating Cleveland State 70-59.
- Detroit Mercy is currently being outscored by their opponents by over 16 points per game but have lowered that number to just 10.2 points per game in Horizon League play.
- During league play, Skylare Starks is leading the team with 10 points per game. Zoey Oatis is the top rebounder for the Titans at 6.4 per contest.
