INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's basketball returns back home after pushing their winning streak to eight games with a win over UIC. The Jags now focus on hosting Cleveland State on Thursday (Jan. 30) at 11 a.m. to begin the second half of Horizon League play.
IUPUI will be hosting its second annual Class on the Court, inviting hundreds of local school children to the game. The morning tip-off will be streamed on ESPN+ with Scott Agness on the play-by-play call.
FIRST MEETING AGAINST CLEVELAND STATE (78-53 win)
- IUPUl's win over Cleveland State was the beginning of the Jaguars' current eight-game winning streak.
- Macee Williams poured in a career-high 33 points on 14-for-22 shooting and went 5-for-5 from the free throw line while pulling down 13 boards for another double-double.
- Holly Hoopingarner dished out six assists and scored 10 points.
- Morgan Allen scored 13 points on 4-for-9 shooting as the Jags bigs owned Cleveland State.
- Katelyn O'Reilly had a career night handing out career-high seven assists and grabbed seven boards.
NUMBERS DURING THE STREAK
- During IUPUI's eight-game winning streak the Jags offense has been shooting 51% from the field and scoring 77.8 points per game.
- The Jaguars have won every game during the streak by at least 12 points with four of the eight wins by at least 30 points.
- In the 320 minutes of gameplay during the winning streak, IUPUI has led for 300:33 and only trailed for 11:15.
- IUPUI has scored at least 80 points in four of the eight games and 75+ points in seven of the eight games.
- The Jags have hit at least 11 threes in four games and are shooting 42.9% from deep. Three Jaguars are hitting over 50% from long range, led by Katelyn O'Reilly who is shooting 62.5%.
- Macee Williams has scored in double-figures in every game, including two 30+-point outbursts. Williams is averaging 18.1 points per game during the run and is shooting 64.5% from the field, the highest of any Jaguar.
- IUPUI is outrebounding opponents 36.4-28.3 with Williams leading the way at 8.3 per game.
- The Jaguars are moving the ball much better than their opponents, dishing out 154 assists to just 71. IUPUI had just 10 assists against Green Bay but had no fewer than 18 in any other game. Holly Hoopingarner has 40 assists during the streak to lead the team.
- IUPUI's defense is allowing just 50.4 points per game with six of the teams scoring 53 points or fewer. Opponents are shooting just 36.4% from the field and 22.1% from three-point range in the last eight game.
- The Jags are doing most of their damage with the starters on the court as IUPUI is outscoring teams 181-105 in the first quarter and 153-79 in the third quarter.
ABOUT THE VIKINGS
- Cleveland State sits at 15-5 overall and is 5-4 in Horizon League play. The Vikings lost their last game 74-54 at home against Green Bay.
- The Vikings have split their last four Horizon League games and their last four road games.
- Cleveland State brings the Horizon League's second-best offense (69.3 ppg) and defense (60.2 ppg) in to the game. Both numbers are behind IUPUI.
