MILWAUKEE – IUPUI men's tennis sophomore Alex Jochim earned two wins at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic over the weekend. Two other Jaguars also competed in the tournament as IUPUI continued fall play.

Jochim began play against an opponent from Pepperdine and took the first set 6-4 but could not earn the match win, dropping both the second and third sets by a score of 6-2. In the consolation bracket, Jochim lost the first set 7-5 to a player from FAU but came back to win 6-1 in the second set and won the match with a 10-6 win in set three.

In his next match, against Rayane Stable from VCU, Jochim took the first set in a tie break, winning 7-6 (9-7). After dropping set two 5-7, Jochim earned his second win of the tournament with a 10-5 win in set three. Jochim's run in the tournament ended with a three set loss in the next match, falling 6-1, 7-6 (7-5), 10-4.

Ethan Mardanus-Budiono was the only other Jaguar to play singles play. The junior lost his first match in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) and in the consolation bracket, Mardanus-Budiono fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, Jochim teamed with fellow sophomore Colton Morehart but the duo fell 8-5 to the team from Princeton.

IUPUI will continue play in its fall season playing in the Purdue Invite on Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 6.
