MEN'S TENNIS TO TAKE ON GREEN BAY IN #HLTENNIS FIRST ROUND ON FRIDAY

The Jaguars will look to beat the Phoenix for the second time this season and earn a spot in the semifinals.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – IUPUI men's tennis team begins the Horizon League Tennis Championship with a match against the No. 5 seed Green Bay Phoenix on Friday (April 26). The match will be played at the Schwartz Tennis Center and will begin at 11 a.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Jaguars finished the season as the No. 4 seed with a 3-3 record in conference play after falling to both Cleveland State and Youngstown State to end the season.

IUPUI beat Green Bay 5-2 earlier this season. After losing the doubles point to the Phoenix, IUPUI took five of the six singles matches.

IUPUI Probable Lineup
Singles
No. 1 – Alex Jochim
  • Jochim finished the season 3-3 in conference play and 12-14 overall in singles play as the Jags primary No. 1 singles player. The freshman was 8-12 at the No. 1 spot but dropped his last three matches.
  • Jochim vs. Green Bay – Jochim won his singles match against the Phoenix this year with a three set win over James Ling (7-6, 6-7, 10-5)
No. 2 – Sean Bailey
  • Bailey posted a 2-4 mark in conference play and was 9-14 overall in singles play with an 8-10 record in the No. 2 spot. Bailey lost his last three matches to end the year and is 2-7 in the Jags last 10.
  • Bailey vs. Green Bay – Bailey fell to Charlie Croxford in three sets in the No. 2 match. Bailey dropped the first set 6-3 but won set two 7-5. The sophomore lost the match with a 6-3 loss in set three.
No. 3 – Colton Morehart
  • Morehart was 9-20 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. The freshman was 6-15 at the No. 3 spot for IUPUI. Morehart has dropped three-straight matches and is 3-7 in his last ten.
  • Morehart vs. Green Bay – Morehart took his No. 3 match in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Miles McDowall.
No. 4 – Ethan Mardanus-Budiono
  • Mardanus-Budiono was the top player for the Jags this season with a 5-1 record in conference play. After dropping his first Horizon League match, the sophomore has won five-straight contests. Mardanus-Budiono posted an 11-10 record overall.
  • Mardanus-Budiono vs. Green Bay – Mardanus-Budiono earned a 7-5, 6-0 straight-set win over Dipin Wadhwa in the No. 4 match
No. 5 – Eric Hollingsworth
  • Hollingsworth was 4-2 in Horizon League play and 14-15 overall, including 14-8 in the spring. Hollingsworth was 6-5 in the No. 5 spot and 8-1 in the No. 6 spot.
  • Hollingsworth vs. Green Bay – Against the Phoenix, Hollingsworth won 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 5 match over Lachlan Napier.
No. 6 – Bradley Luetschwager
  • Luetschwager posted a 3-3 record in league play and was 9-9 in spring singles play. Luetschwager was 6-5 in the No. 5 matches and 1-2 at the No. 6 spot.
  • Luetschwager vs. Green Bay – Luetschwager beat Ivan Radomirovic 6-2, 7-6 in the No. 6 match.
Doubles
No. 1 – Jochim/Morehart
  • The freshmen duo finished conference play 1-3 but held an 8-12 record in doubles play this season.
  • vs. Green Bay – Morehart and Jochim lost 6-2 in the No. 1 match against the Phoenix.
No. 2 - Luetschwager/Kyle Whittaker
  • Luetschwager and Whittaker finished the season with a 3-2 Horizon League record and were 10-5 when teaming this season with all of their matches coming at the No. 2 spot.
  • vs. Green Bay – The duo were tied 6-6 with the match going unfinished as the doubles point was decided.
No. 3 – Mardanus-Budiono/Bailey
  • Mardanus-Budiono and Bailey were the top doubles team for IUPUI this season with a 12-9 overall record. The duo finished 2-3 in conference play and won their last doubles match.
  • vs. Green Bay – Mardanus-Budiono and Bailey fell 7-5 against the Phoenix.
