Box Score CLEVELAND – IUPUI men's tennis earned a singled point by a three-set match win from
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono but the Jags could not get anything else done, falling 6-1 to Cleveland State on Friday (April 19).
IUPUI (13-9, 3-2 Horizon) lost the doubles point with both the No. 2 and No. 3 being decided by 6-2 scores in favor of Cleveland State.
When singles play began, the Vikings picked up two more points, beating
Eric Hollingsworth at No. 5 6-0, 6-3 and
Bradley Luetschwager 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6. The loss was the first conference loss of the season for Hollingsworth.
Cleveland State closed out the match in the next contest as
Colton Morehart fell in his No. 3 singles match by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
In the remaining matches,
Sean Bailey fell 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 2 and
Alex Jochim lost in three sets 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1. The final match to finish was Mardanus-Budiono who won the first set 6-4 before losing set two 4-6. In the tie break for the third set, the sophomore won 10-7 to give the Jags their lone point.
