WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS NKU IN HORIZON LEAGUE QUARTERFINAL ON TUESDAY

IUPUI will look to punch its ticket to Detroit for the Horizon League Semifinals with a win over the Norse.

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's basketball will host Northern Kentucky in a quarterfinal of the 2019 Little Caesar's Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship on Tuesday (Mar. 5) with the game tipping off at 7 p.m. in the Jungle.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Andrew Kappes on the play-by-play call and Megan McKeown serving as color commentator.

The Jags come in to the game as the No. 4 seed after finishing tied with Youngstown State for third with a 13-5 record in Horizon League play, but the Penguins earned the tiebreaker over the Jags.

Northern Kentucky earned the No. 5 seed after finishing the season on a four-game winning streak and the Norse took the tiebreak over Milwaukee after both teams finished the season 10-8 in league play.

IUPUI finished the regular season with 76-55 win over Milwaukee in one of the most efficient offensive performances of the season. The Jags finished the game shooting 49.1 percent from the field and a scorching 55.6 percent from behind the arc. It was the best three-point shooting performance of the season for IUPUI.

The Jags finished the game with five players in double-figures, led by senior Tamya Sims who finished with 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting. Holly Hoopingarner finished second on the team with 15 points and Sydney Hall, Macee Williams and Katelyn O'Reilly each added 11. Williams also pulled down 10 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season.

AGAINST NKU
This season, IUPUI split its two games against the Norse with both teams winning at home.

In the first game of the year, IUPUI took down Northern Kentucky 70-48 with five Jaguars finishing in double-figures. Sims and O'Reilly each finished with 12 points to lead the Jags and Williams and Hall each scored 11. Holly Hoopingarner posted 10 points. The Jags finished the game shooting 45.8 percent from the field and forced Northern Kentucky to shoot just 36 percent from the floor, including 11.1 percent from behind the arc.

The second game of the season, Northern Kentucky earned a 60-57 win as the Jags shot just 36.2 percent from the floor. Sims was the leading scorer for the Jags with 14 points and Williams and Hoopingarner added 11, hitting 3-for-4 from three. The Jags struggled stopping Grayson Rose from deep who went 4-for-7 from the three point line. An early deficit hurt the Jags who fell behind by 11 points in the second quarter. The Jags managed to take a four-point lead in the fourth quarter but could not hold on to the win.
