MEN'S TENNIS PLAYS AT BALL STATE BEFORE BEGINNING LEAGUE PLAY

IUPUI will play the Cardinals before traveling to Northern Kentucky and Wright State.

MUNCIE, Ind. – Before beginning conference play over the week, IUPUI men's tennis will play a road match at Ball State on Wednesday (Mar. 27). The match against the Cardinals will begin at 2 p.m.

After taking on Ball State, IUPUI will then head to Northern Kentucky for its first Horizon League match of the season. The match against the Norse will be played on Friday (Mar. 29) and begin at 11 a.m. The Jags will then head to Wright State for a match on Saturday (Mar. 30) against the Raiders and that match will begin at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. if the match has to be played indoors.

IUPUI (10-5) had its four-match winning streak ended at the hands of Butler in a 6-1 loss to the Bulldogs on last Friday (Mar. 22). In the match, Eric Hollingsworth picked up the lone point for the Jags with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 6 match. Ethan Mardanus-Budiono and Sean Bailey teamed up for another doubles win, taking the No. 3 match 6-3.

Hollingsworth holds the top singles record for head coach Brandon Currie with a 10-4 record and has now won eight-straight singles matches.

Mardanus-Budiono and Bailey have been on fire as a doubles pair having won five-straight contests and hold a 9-1 record at the No. 3 match.

SCOUTING REPORT
Ball State
The Cardinals are 9-9 on the season and have been an impressive 7-2 at home on the season. Ball State is coming off of a 3-4 loss at Toledo. Ball State is above .500 in each of the last four singles spots in its lineup. The No. 4 and No. 6 spot are both 11-7. In doubles play, the Cardinals are 10-5 in the No. 3 doubles matches.

Last season, IUPUI dropped a home match against Ball State, 2-5.

Northern Kentucky
NKU comes in to the match with a 5-6 record and a win over Wright State to begin conference play on Saturday (Mar. 23). The Norse have won three-straight matches and three-straight at home. Blaine Carr has been the best singles player for NKU with a 7-3 record and Nathan Schwartz holds a 6-4 record, including five-straight wins. NKU is 7-4 in No. 1 doubles matches this season.

Last season, IUPUI swept Northern Kentucky, 7-0 in Indianapolis.

Wright State
Wright State is 7-12 on the year but has lost six-straight matches coming in to the match against the Jags. Wright State dropped a 5-2 match to Northern Kentucky to begin conference play.

Last season, Wright State got the best of the IUPUI in Indianapolis, taking down the Jags 5-2
