SOMHEGYI QUALIFIES FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE PLATFORM

IUPUI had four Jaguars compete in the NCAA Zone C Championships over the weekend.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – IUPUI senior Krisztian Somhegyi qualified for the Men's NCAA Diving National Championships in the platform competition after his performance in the platform event on Saturday (Mar. 16).

Somhegyi finished in eighth place in the platform with 666.50 points, just under six points above the ninth space spot. In his final dive, Somhegyi scored 68.8 points to earn his spot in the national championships in Austin, Texas from March 27-30.

This marks the second time in his career that Somhegyi will be competing in the NCAA Championships after also qualifying in the platform event as a freshman. Somhegyi will be the lone diver from the Horizon League to make the championships.

IUPUI had three other divers compete in the Zone Championships. Somhegyi finished 24th in the 1-meter with 268.45 points and was joined by Patrick Tener (256.00) who finished 28th and Mitch Mastey (236.70) who finished 35th.

In the men's 3-meter, Mastey finished in 27th with 284.20 points and Tener took 35th, scoring 237.25 points.

Rylee Dahlman was the lone female Jaguar to compete in the Zone Championships. The sophomore finished 32nd in the 1-meter with 239.85 points and scored 224.90 in the 3-meter, which was good for 42nd.
