Swimming and Diving face off against the UIC Flames

IU INDY SWIM AND DIVE HEADS TO CHICAGO FOR SATURDAY DUEL

Swimming and diving is set to face the UIC Flames on Saturday (Oct. 25)

INDIANAPOLIS- The IU Indy swim and dive team will travel to Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11:00 AM to take on the Flames of UIC.

The Jags last weekend dominated the competition, defeating Evansville, Southern Indiana and Valparaiso, and with those victories, three Jaguars were awarded Horizon League Athlete of the Week awards. 

Sophomore Addy Hirsbrunner earned her second Swimmer of the Week award of the year with two individual wins and a relay win. She took first place in the 500 free and secured the top spot in the 400 IM, also contributing to the team's win in the 400 medley relay.  

Graduate student Alaina Heyde earned her first Diver of the Week award this season, sweeping the women's diving competition. She took first in the 1-meter and finished first in the 3-meter. Senior Sebastian Otero earned his fourth Diver of the Week this season after sweeping the men's diving events. He earned first in the one-meter and first in the 3-meter. Otero has now earned 22 Diver of the Week awards.  

For UIC, sophomore Georgina Bell was awarded MVC Women's Swimmer of the Week for her four wins in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay. She ranks in the top five in the Missouri Valley Conference in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

The IU Indy men's and women's teams each have earned six wins on the season and aim to make it seven this weekend. Saturday's meet will start at 11:00 AM inside the Flames Natatorium.
