JAGS FINISH UP THE REGULAR SEASON HOSTING MILWAUKEE

IUPUI will look to rebound from a poor shooting night against Green Bay when they take on the Panthers.

3/1/2019 3:17:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's basketball will look to bounce back from a 45-43 loss against Green Bay, finishing out the regular season with a matchup against Milwaukee on Saturday (March 1) with tip-off at 2 p.m.

The game will tip-off at 2 p.m. and Scott Agness will be on the play-by-play call. Before the game, IUPUI will honor its seniors, Tamya Sims, Allex Brown and Sydney Hall.

The final game of the season comes with major implications for the 2019 Little Caesar's Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship. IUPUI has already locked up a top-four seed and will host a quarterfinal on Tuesday (March 5) at 7 p.m. but the Jags seed and their opponent has not been decided. With a win, and a Youngstown State loss, IUPUI will be the No. 3 seed. With a loss, the Jaguars would be the No. 4 seed.

IUPUI could have to play Milwaukee in back-to-back games if IUPUI were to lose to the Panthers or if Northern Kentucky loses at Detroit Mercy.

The Jags will need to get their offense going against the Panthers after mustering just two points on 1-for-8 shooting in the fourth quarter against Green Bay. The Jags finished with 16 points in the second half against the Phoenix, a season-low for any half. Katelyn O'Reilly led the Jags with 11 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Macee Williams was held to just five points but pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss.

The last time IUPUI played Milwaukee, the Jags won by one point in overtime after Williams hit a free throw with 0.7 seconds left on the clock. In the last three meetings between the two teams, IUPUI has won two and the games have been decided by two, seven and one point.

It will be a battle between two of the best offenses in the league as Milwaukee is the third best shooting team in the Horizon and IUPUI ranks fourth in the league. On the defensive end, Milwaukee is second in field goal defense allowing teams to hit just 36 percent from the field.

The Jags will also have to watch the Panthers from behind the arc as Milwaukee is the best three-point shooting team in the Horizon, hitting 34 percent of their shots from deep.
