INDIANAPOLIS – After posting on of its best defensive performances the last time on the court, IUPUI women's basketball sets its sight on a streaking Cleveland State team that currently boasts the longest winning streak in the league having won their last three games.
The Jags will Roar Against Cancer for the game against the Vikings as IUPUI will host a silent auction to support the Indiana Women In Need Foundation that supports women in Indiana in their fight against breast cancer. Fans who do not want to participate in the silent auction will still be able to donate to the foundation. The game against Cleveland State will tip-off at 2 p.m.
IUPUI won its second-straight game with a 64-44 win over Youngtown State. The Penguins came in to the game averaging 80 points in their previous five games but IUPUI held Youngstown State to single digits in three of the four quarters. The 44 points were the third lowest allowed by IUPUI and the third lowest scored by Youngstown State this season.
Macee Williams led the way for IUPUI with 19 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Holly Hoopingarner was second on the team with 15 points and
Sydney Hall and
Tamya Sims each added 10.
In the first quarter of the game, Hall hit a three to give her 200 career threes, becoming just the third Jaguar to hit 200 career threes.
Cleveland State swept through Detroit Mercy, Oakland and UIC to improve to 7-4 in league play and pull within one game of IUPUI for fourth place in the conference standings. The last time the Vikings took the court they took down UIC 74-48, exploding to a 43-14 halftime lead over the Flames. Mariah Miller led the way for the Vikings with 25 points, going 11-for-16 from the free throw line.
