INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's basketball team begins its final weekend of the regular season with a home contest against the Green Bay Phoenix on Thursday (Feb. 28) as the Jags continue to battle for seeding in the 2019 Horizon League Basketball Championship. The game against the Phoenix will tip at 7 p.m. in the Jungle.
For fans who can't make it to the Jungle, the game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Andrew Kappes on the play-by-play and Meghan McKeown on color commentary.
The matchup with the Phoenix is sponsored by the IU School of Social Work and will also be Favorite Professor Night. Fans will also be able to learn about and interact with local non-profit groups as IUPUI is hosting a Non-Profit Day where local non-profits will be in the lobby with information about their cause.
IUPUI (18-9, 12-4 Horizon) currently sits in third place in the standings but can finish as high as second depending on the final weekend of games. The Jags will take the Horizon League's longest current winning streak of five games in to its meeting with the Phoenix. Green Bay enters Thursday's game with an 18-8 overall record and a 13-3 mark in league play. The Phoenix have won three-straight contests.
In the first meeting between the two teams, IUPUI earned a 67-63 overtime win in Green Bay, marking the first home conference loss for Green Bay since 2016. 2016 was also the last time Green Bay was swept in a season series, a feat the Jags will try to accomplish.
IUPUI continues to be led by sophomore
Macee Williams who is leading the league with 17.2 points per game and is second in the league with 8.9 rebounds per contest. Williams has pulled down 10 double-doubles this season including three-straight and in four of her last five games.
Green Bay is led on offense by Frankie Wurtz with 10.6 points per game and Laken James at 10.2 points per game. Madison Wolf leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per contest. Green Bay has been its normally stingy self on defense allowing just 52.5 points per game and held their last two opponents to 32 and 37 points.

JAGS EXTINGUISH FLAMES
- IUPUI was down by two after the first quarter against UIC but opened up the game by outscoring the Flames 46-17 in the second and third quarters.
- Macee Williams was extremely efficient going 6-for-8 from the field on route to 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
- IUPUI assisted on 17 of its 27 made baskets. Hoopingarner led the way with four assists while Sydney Roule, Hall and Agatha Beier all finished with three.
- The Jags got out and ran against UIC, finishing with 18 fast break points to just three for the Flames.
- IUPUI trailed 15-13 after the first quarter. It was the first time in five games the Jags have been down after the first ten minutes. IUPUI had not trailed after the first quarter in a win since trailing UT Martin 17-9 in the third game of the season.
- The Jags held a large advantage at the free throw line, making 12-of-16 attempts. The Flames went just 1-of-2 at the line.
- IUPUI moves to 12-4 in conference play and is tied with Youngstown State for third in the standings. With one more win, IUPUI would match its record from last year at 13-5 in Horizon League play.

- IUPUI has won their last six home games by at least 20 points. It is the longest streak in school history. The Jags have outscored opponents on their home floor by over 18 points and have won by an average of more than 18 points this season.
LET'S PLAY EXTRA
- IUPUI has played in a school record five overtime games this season going 2-3 in those games. Twice, IUPUI has played in back-to-back overtime contests. The first occurrence saw the Jags lost to Southern Illinois and Wright State. IUPUI has won its last two overtime games, winning back-to-back overtime games at Green Bay and Milwaukee, the first time doing so since 1996
WINNING ON THE TUNDRA
- IUPUI beat Green Bay 67-63 in overtime on Saturday (Jan. 26). It was the first time Green Bay had lost a conference home game since Jan. 28 against Oakland. It was IUPUI's first win in five tries against the Phoenix.
GETTING THE DEFENSE GOING
- Since surrendering 70 points to Youngstown State on Jan. 5, IUPUI has locked down opponents, especially on its home court. In six home games, the Jags have allowed an average of 45.2 points per game with a high of 53 points allowed to Oakland on Jan. 13. The Jags held back-to-back opponents under 45 points against both Youngstown State (44) and Cleveland State (36) and also Detroit Mercy (41) and UIC (44). IUPUI had not held back-to-back opponents under 45 points since Feb. 23 and 28 of 2013.
