MURRAY, Ky. – IUPUI women's basketball will look to end a two-game skid as the Jags will play their third-straight road game, taking on UT Martin on Monday (Nov. 25). The game against the Skyhawks will tip at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+.
IUPUI (2-2) is coming off of a three-point loss at Butler the last time the Jags took the court. In the loss to the Bulldogs, just like the loss at No. 17 Miami, IUPUI took a three-point lead in to the final ten minutes.
Macee Williams led the Jags with 17 points in the loss and pulled down 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. It was Williams' second-straight game with 17 points.
Williams now leads the Jaguars in scoring with 13.5 ppg. Redshirt sophomore
Rachel McLimore is second on the team at 13 ppg but has been held under 10 points per game in each of the last two contests.
Holly Hoopingarner is third on the team with 11.3 ppg and freshman
Natalie Andersen has increased her average to 9.3 after scoring 15 and 13 points in her last two outings, respectively.
The Jags had their best three-point shooting game of the season last game going 9-for-21 from deep, both season-highs. Andersen and Hoopingarner both hit three threes and Andersen now leads the team with seven made threes on the year. Three Jags, all with at least eight attempts, have hit at least half of their threes with Hoopingarner leading the way at 54.5 percent on the year.
LAST TIME OUT
- For the second-straight game, IUPUI took a three point lead in to the fourth quarter before losing the lead and the game. IUPUI was outscored 17-11 by Butler in the fourth quarter and committed seven turnovers in the last period as the lead slipped away.
- Three Jags scored in double-figures with Macee Williams leading the way with 17. Williams finished 7-for-13 from the floor and 3-for-5 from the free throw line. Natalie Andersen hit double-digits for the second straight game with 13, going 3-for-4 from deep and Holly Hoopingarner (3-for-6 3FG) added 11.
- IUPUI committed 20 turnovers against Butler, hitting the 20 mark for the third time this season. IUPUI is averaging over 20 turnovers per game this season, up from 15.6 a season ago.
- The Jaguars shot over 80 percent from the free throw line for the first three games of the season before going 8-for-14 (57.1 percent) against the Bulldogs.
- IUPUI went 9-for-21 from deep against Butler, a season-high in both makes and attempts. The 42.9 percent from the field was the highest percentage on the season and IUPUI is hitting over 40 percent of their three-point attempts this year.
- Rachel McLimore finished just shy of hitting double-figures for the fourth-straight game with nine points against Butler. McLimore was 4-for-10 from the field.
- IUPUI outrebounded Butler 38-28, winning the rebounding battle for the first time since the season opener against Ball State.
AGAINST THE SKYHAWKS
- IUPUI will be battling UT Martin for the second-straight year. The Jags took the meeting last season over the Skyhawks in Indianapolis 73-72 on a last-second three by Sydney Roule. The Jags were down by four with just over a minute left in the game and overcame a 17-9 first quarter deficit.
- Macee Williams scored 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds, both team-highs. Holly Hoopingarner (15) and Katelyn O'Reilly (13) also finished in double-figures.
- This will be the second meeting between the Jaguars and the Skyhawks all-time.
SCOUTING UT MARTIN
- The Skyhawks enter the game 1-3 on the season with an overtime win in their last game against Samford. UT Martin's schedule has been tough in the early season with road games at No. 10 Mississippi State and No. 23 Gonzaga.
- UT Martin has two players averaging over 10 points with Damiah Griffin leading the way at 14 ppg. Chelsey Perry is right behind with 13.8 ppg.
- The offense for the Skyhawks has been held in check early in the year with UT Martin averaging just 57.8 points per game. As a team, UT Martin is shooting just 35.3 percent from the field and is only hitting 27.1 percent from three.
