WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FACES TEST AT MIAMI ON SUNDAY

The Jaguars will head to Florida for a matchup against the No. 17 ranked Hurricanes.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – IUPUI will face its first road test of the season on Sunday (Nov. 17) as the Jaguars will take on the No. 17 Miami Hurricanes. The game against the Hurricanes will tip-off at 1 p.m. and can be seen on ACCNetwork Extra.

IUPUI (2-0) took care of business in their first two home games of the season and will now face its biggest test of the year, taking on a ranked Miami squad. The Jags beat Ball State and Southern Illinois to start 2-0 for the third-straight year and a win over the Hurricanes would give the Jags a 3-0 for the third consecutive season.

LAST TIME OUT

  •          IUPUI beat Southern Illinois 81-78 on a three-point play by Rachel McLimore with 0.4 seconds left on the clock. McLimore finished the game with 18 points, hitting the 18-point mark for the second-straight game.
  •          Junior Morgan Allen had a stellar night, notching a career-high 24 points and was 9-for-12 from the field against the Salukis.

JAG SCRATCHES

  •  IUPUI went 18-for-22 from the free throw line against SIU as McLimore was 6-for-6 from the stripe. The Jags are shooting .809 from the free throw line (38-47) through two games
  •  IUPUI only hit three three-point field goals against the Salukis, matching the second-lowest total from last season. The Jags have hit at least two threes in every game since going 1-for-12 against Northern Kentucky on Feb. 25, 2018.
  • Macee Williams was held to just five points against Southern Illinois on 2-for-4 shooting. Williams, a junior, has only scored less than five points three times in her career. All three games came in her freshman season.
  •  Destiny Perkins has been a spark off the bench, averaging 9.5 points per game and 3.5 assists per contest in her first season with the Jags after transferring from Akron.
  •  Four Jaguars are scoring in double figures to start the season. McLimore leads the team averaging 18 ppg, followed by Allen at 14 ppg and Holly Hoopingarner and Williams are each averaging 10 ppg.
  • IUPUI will be making its first trip to Miami since 2001 and the second trip in school history.
  •  The Jags last game in Florida came in 2017 when IUPUI spent Thanksgiving in Orlando at the UCF Thanksgiving Classic. IUPUI lost to UCF 63-59 before beating Wyoming 65-59 to end the tournament.
  •  In the DI era (1998-pres.) IUPUI is 3-7 against teams from the Sunshine State. IUPUI has one win against Florida Atlantic (2011), USF (2002) and Stetson (1999).
  •  The Jaguars are 1-14 against current ACC schools. The lone win for IUPUI was a 64-52 win over Virginia Tech back in 2008.
  •  The Jags will take on a ranked team for the 15th time in school history. IUPUI has never beaten a ranked team 14 tries, the last loss coming at No. 16 Iowa last season. The Jags have lost by an average of 24.9 points against ranked teams and have only scored more than 50 points three times in those games.

SCOUTING MIAMI

  •          Miami is 2-0 this season with home wins against Jackson State and North Florida.
  •          Three Hurricanes are scoring in double-figures led by Kelsey Marshall with 17 ppg.
  •          Miami is shooting .496 on the season and is holding opponents to a .338 shooting percentage.
  •          The Hurricanes' biggest advantage this season has been from beyond the arc. Miami is 20-for-49 (.408) from three-point range while holding opponents to just .205 from deep.
