WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – IUPUI junior
Michael Koch took home a flight win at the Purdue Fall Invitational, winning three-straight matches over the weekend.
Koch began his tournament with a win over Olivet Nazarene's Luke Fleming, 6-2, 6-1. In the semifinals, taking on Dayton's Peter Schulteis, Koch took the first set 6-2 but was forced to go to a third set losing in a second-set tie break 7-6 (7-3). The third set went to another tie break and Koch pulled out the win with a 7-6 (8-6) win to earn a spot in the championship match.
In the championship match, Koch faced off against Robert Cercos from Cardinal Stritch. Koch made easy work against his foe with a 6-1, 6-2 win to take the title.
Three other Jaguars took part in the tournament but
Sean Bailey,
Eric Hollingsworth and Nick Moody were not able to grab a win during the weekend.
UP NEXT
IUPUI will host an alumni match on Saturday (Oct. 12) at 1:30 p.m. and the Jaguars will finish the fall season at the ITA Regionals from Oct. 24 to Oct. 29.
